One Hundred Finds

We did it. One hundred finds. We hit the 100 find milestone on our Colorado trip at a cache in Pagosa Springs, one of three we found in that great town.
Oklahoma Caching

Inspired by Krillin we set off to Oklahoma today with a plan to add as many caches along I-35 as we could. Krillin – a travel bug who originated in Alberta, Canada – is on a mission to visit all the capital cities of the United States and Canada.
We picked up Krillin in Little Doodles Stash Cache on our New Years Day cache loop through Mansfield. Since he had not visited Austin or Oklahoma City, we decided to use his mission to plan our next few outings.
In planning this trip I ran smack into the 200 cache limit imposed by the Explorist GPS that I current use. Read the rest of this entry »
Geocaching in the New Year
Posted by Kevin in Geocaching on January 1, 2007
January 1, 2007 was such a beautiful day that we decided to start the year off right with an afternoon of geocaching in the Mansfield area. We targeted a tight group of caches and set off with the goal of reaching as many as possible before we had to call it a day.
Winter caching days are short – here you start losing the light around 4:00 PM. Since we are not yet up to night caching, we try to be out of the woods by then as in the trees the light goes faster.
Since it had rained a couple of days before we had the occasional muddy spot – but for the most part we were able to avoid deep mud. We found some very nice – and in some ways challenging caches on the loop.
We were trying to get seven to start out ’07 – but since it turned out that one of our finds was actually the final stage of a multi-cache – we only got six. Since we did not solve the puzzle for the multi we did not count it.
So happy caching new year – hopefully we will make 100 by the end of the year.
